A Research for Dissemination and Diffusion of Mini-lap in Koje County

Abstract
The suprapubic mini-laparotomy is comparatively simple, inexpensive, safe and can be performed by general surgeons on an out-patient basis with no delicate equipment. It was introduced to Korea in January 1975.
This mini-lap program was put into Koje County, 480 km from Seoul on April 10, 1975.
After one year of service to Korean women, acceptors¢¥ responses to this new technique were studied through interviews to mini-lap acceptors who had lived and accepted mini-lap from April 10, 1975 and at Koje County.
The mini-lap acceptors, during one year were 94 women, but this research reached 83 women.
The major findings of the research were as follows.
1. The average age of mini-lap acceptors was 33 years with the age group 30¡34 as 43.4%.
2. The educational level of them was almost below six grade.
3. The average number of living children was 4.02 with 2.51 living sons.
4. There were no acceptors who know the correct for a mini-lap. 8.5% of mini-lap acceptors called the mini-lap a vasectomy.
6. There were 25 types of side effects which mini-lap acceptors perceived. Most of them seemed to be psychological. But medical complaints seemed higher than those of Thailand.
7. The Main sources of information about mini-lap were Health Center/Clinic for mini-lap acceptors. The most influential persons in acceptors¢¥ decisions to accept the mini-lap were non-professional.
8. The mini-lap acceptors¢¥ location in the village family planning communication net influenced the diffusion of mini-lap at the village.
